Miniature American Shepherds (MAS or Mini Aussies) are intelligent, energetic, and eager to please.  Here's what to know about this versatile breed:
  • Size:  Adults stand 13 -18 inches tall and weigh between 20 - 40 pounds.
  • Temperament:  They are loyal, driven, and have a balanced temperament.
  • Trainability:  Highly trainable and responsive to their owners.
  • Shedding:  They have a thick, weather-resistant double coat and shed seasonally twice a year.
  • Exercise Nee​ds:  Daily mental and physical stimulation is essential.  They love walks/hikes and engaging activities like herding, agility, disc, rally, scentwork.
When selecting a Miniature American Shepherd puppy, consider factors such as:

In 2007 our first Mini came into our lives through our 9 year old daughter who wanted to do 'all the things'... Here we are in 2009 with our own Dog 4-H Club TEAM PAWSitive!
I honestly had never 'trained' a dog before. My husband and I had had a couple farm dogs that worked with him during the day and came home to family pet duty in the evening. No leashes, collars, treats, nada...
Being a 4-H leader was pivotal to my breeding program as it gave me such a wide variety of skills with; people of all ages, dogs of various breeds and temperaments, politics positive and not so, and most importantly left lasting impressions on my heart leaving me wanting more.
'Run Fast & Look Pretty' was often our slogan as the kiddos usually swept their Agility & Showmanship classes each year.

​My Breeder Bio:

Monica Rinehart is a woman of faith, a wife since 1995, and mother of 5. She resides on her and her husband's farm in central WA where she has lived all her life. Monica is an AKC Breeder of Merit and owner of the AKC registered kennel name 'Wiggle Rump' Ranch. She began her MAS adventure in 2006 with her daughter's search for a puppy.  This puppy lead her to volunteer service in WSU 4H program as a dog club leader and 4H council member for 7 years. She became a member of NAMASCUSA. Upon her children's completion of Dog 4H, they participated in AKC events when they opened to the MAS earning their first title in Agility with the girl and dog that started it all.  

Monica maintains the goal of excellence in her breeding program and continues to be a student of the breed; temperament, health, structure, genetics and movement.  She confers with mentors, behaviorist, and trainers, utilizes puppy rearing programs, OFA and DNA tests all her dogs, participates in research studies, attends canine seminars, and seeks AKC dog conformation/performance titles. She desires to help the club in its work to forward the AKC Miniature American Shepherd.
