Plastic: amzn.to/4isWFVB
- Small enough for puppy to sit, stand, lay down but not long enough to potty at one end and sleep at the other unless you are providing an indoor toilet in there intentionally. Wire crates often come with a divider so you can make the space smaller at first then extend as they grow eventually reaching full crate space.
- Adult size is 30” to 36” long depending on your space. The width and height vary from plastic to wire, we use both types in training here.
Vertical Bars: amzn.to/3Rqs7bN
Traditional X-pen: amzn.to/42FVf4c
- I do like the metal with vertical bars but have the traditional x-pens that fold up nicely.
- stainless steel or ceramic is preferred
- stainless steel or ceramic is preferred
- (Puzzles, Kongs, Snuffle Mats, etc…)
- with no stuffing,
- squeaker up to you 😉 (supervised use)
- porky puff, bully sticks, beef cheek rolls (these natural products preferred)
- benebone/wishbone shape, nylabone, etc…
- proper training required, harness is more forgiving in the beginning
- plastic device with a button that makes a click sound for marking correct behavior
- (can use their kibble at home in the beginning, softer/smellier for higher distraction environments)
- donut fur beds are a favorite but any with higher sides they enjoy
Metal comb
- for soft hair behind the ears and britches, these are where tangles and mats may form
- I use human nail or cat nail trimmers that look like mini scissors then graduated to a quiet Dremel
- First Puppy & Small Dog dremel (it's nice and quiet w/2 speeds and lights) https://amzn.to/3ZbB6RX
- This can be as simple as some disposable or washable puppy pads, artificial grass mat, litter box with pine or alfalfa pellets, grid type potty tray.
- MUST IF: puppy needs to be confined more hours than they are months in age
- OPTIONAL IF: confinement is brief, built up over time, or at night near you if needed.
